“Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t go on but you keep going anyway.” Ed Mylett
I woke up this morning and had no desire to get out of bed. My head hurt, my body was tired, and my motivation was running on empty. I hopped on Instagram and went straight to the account of Ed Mylett. I must admit that I go to his account on a regular basis for much-needed inspiration. I admire his work ethic and the positivity he promotes on his social media. As I searched through his feed, I came across the quote at the top of this post: “Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t go on but you keep going anyway.”
I have clear goals ahead of me that I work towards every single day. As of the last week, I have felt some frustration as it seems like the process is taking longer than I expected. Have you ever felt this way? You feel like you are working hard, yet it seems like you haven’t gotten any closer.
I read the words of Ed Mylett this morning and jumped out of bed. I had a moment of clarity so I had to get up and get after it. I realized that this dry moment in the process is a moment of growth. This is my opportunity to get stronger and make more progress. When laziness creeps in and discontentment clouds, the person who perseveres wins. I want to be the person who pushes through to the finish line regardless of how long it takes. I want to win.
I want you to be the person who does the same. I don’t care what kind of week you’ve had—get up and get after it. If you are tempted to give up right now, don’t. This dry season will pass and you will see that perseverance brings great reward. You could be on the brink of greatness if you push through. How sad would it be to know you were so close to a breakthrough and gave up?
Let this season make you stronger. Learn from the pain, lean in to the process, and look forward to the goal.
